For an up-to-date Thornton Park Pool Schedule Click Here. The City of Shaker Heights reserves the right to make adjustments in daily operating hours or close the pool or any portion of, for any reason, including, but not limited to: staffing, cold or inclement weather, or mechanical issues.
General Pool Rules
- All swimmers must wear a color-coded wristband on their person to use the pool.
- Swimmers must wear appropriate swimming apparel (no cut-offs or athletic shorts)
- Children ages 6 and under must have a parent or guardian in pool at all times, actively engaged with child(ren).
- Children ages 12 and under must have a parent or guardian within pool area at all times.
- No running, horseplay or unruly behavior.
- No glass containers of any type are permitted in pool area.
- Smoking, alcohol, and electronic cigarettes are prohibited on City property.
- Profane, abusive, or vulgar language is not permitted.
- Continuous swimming or water jogging is required for use of lap lanes.
- Deep water swim tests are required for children ages 12 and under to use any portion of the deep water, including water slide and diving board.
Proof of Residency
In order to receive resident discounts for Seasonal Pool Passes and Daily Pool Admissions, Shaker Heights Residents must provide proof of residency upon entry to pool.

Note: Guest Policy: Seasonal pass holders, ages 18 and up, are permitted to bring up to 4 non-resident guests per visit. Residents, ages 18 and up, without seasonal pool passes are permitted to bring 2 non-resident guests per visit.
All individuals entering the gated pool area must pay an admission fee whether or not they choose to swim. Only residents of Shaker Heights are permitted to purchase a daily pool pass online. Non-residents must purchase daily pool passes at Thornton Park at time of admission.
No refunds are given for inclement weather or unexpected pool closures. A credit in the form of a daily admission may be granted for those who purchase a daily pool pass online.
Daily admissions are only valid for the individual it was purchased for. Non-transferable.
Any non-used passes will expire at the end of the holiday which they were purchased for. No refunds or credits for non-used passes.
